Martin Bromiley OBE

Martin’s an airline pilot and Training Captain for a major UK airline.  In 2005 his then wife, Elaine, went into hospital for routine surgery.  Errors occurred and she died after 13 days having never regained consciousness.

Martin was “lucky”, the private hospital where the operation occurred sponsored an independent investigation.

Initially Martin used his expertise as a pilot to understand the safety issues that arose. But in 2007 he founded the Clinical Human Factors Group to bring together world class experts, policy makers, leaders and frontline staff to work together to promote an understanding of safety, systems thinking and human factors in healthcare.
